“On 8 March 2025, join us to celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme, ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.’ This year’s theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation—youth, particularly young women and adolescent girls—as catalysts for lasting change.”-United Nations

“For International Women’s Day 2025, the UN has chosen the theme ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment’. It is always wonderful to have an opportunity to celebrate all the incredible women, and people of all genders, who are doing so much to try and make this a reality.  Whilst we reflect on progress made though, we must also acknowledge that around the world we are seeing hard-won rights and recognition being rolled back with the stroke of a pen. The rising tide of misogyny cannot be ignored and ‘defending women’ is repeatedly being used as an excuse to restrict all of our rights and bodily autonomy. I hope this IWD we can pause and find hope and joy in what has been achieved, whilst we energise and recharge for the fights ahead together.”-Briony Williamson (she/her), Head of Membership and Engagement.

“International Women’s Day is important to me as a proud queer woman and as someone deeply committed to equity and inclusion. It is a day to celebrate the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women across all backgrounds while recognising the ongoing fight for gender justice. Within the LGBT+ community, women—particularly those who are trans, disabled, and from racialised backgrounds—continue to face systemic barriers and inequalities. This day serves as a reminder of the importance of intersectional feminism and collective action to create a more just and equitable society. It is also a time to uplift and amplify the voices of women who are often unheard, ensuring that progress towards gender equality includes all of us”.-Heather Paterson (she/her), Head of Partnership and Development.
