About the event
LGBTQ+ issues have been prominent in the media and political discourse in recent years and many of our organisations have had a greater focus on how best to support our LGBTQ+ service users and communities. Many of us have attended LGBTQ+ awareness trainings and worked to make our services more inclusive and accessible for LGBTQ+ people.
However, we frequently talk about the LGBTQ+ community, as if all LGBTQ+ people have a single similar experience, failing to recognise the diversity of our communities, or the specific experiences, needs and barriers faced by LGBTQ+ people with other intersecting marginalised identities.
Building on our previous See The Spectrums (SEND) and Faith and Sexualities conferences, the Intersections conference brings together professionals, academics and community members to discuss these issues, looking at the impact of being a minority within a minority and the unique needs faced by people with intersecting marginalised identities. We will have a range of speakers and workshops discussing the intersections of LGBTQ+ and disability, faith, class, race and family/parenting.
This conference will improve your service provision, recognising the unique experiences and needs of the diverse members of our communities. The conference will encourage collaboration in developing solutions to provide culturally competent holistic support for all who require it.
The event is open to anyone supporting LGBTQ+ people, with particular relevance for those working in frontline youth and community and support services, education, mental health, and LGBTQ+ organisations.

Car Parking: Parking is available (discounted) and is booked through the 'Just Park Parking' app, available on play store and apple store. Type 'Victoria Hall' in the "where are you going" box and then select a date and time. Click the best option for you. Britannia (Arundel Gate) car park is the shortest distance from Victoria Hall at £7.50 for the full day. Proceed to checkout to reserve and pay for your parking space.
Travel: The train and bus station is located 5-10 minutes from Victoria Hall if travelling by foot. The postcode of Victoria Hall is S1 2JB and is located opposite The Crucible Theatre.
Accessibility:
The accessible entrance to Victoria Hall is the main entrance on Norfolk Street.
Disabled parking bays are available along Norfolk Street.
There is step free and lift access throughout the building.
A quiet/sensory room and separate prayer room will be available for use throughout the event.
